Greater Fish Intake May Lower Risk for Diabetes

More than 20,000 men and women were asked to provide information about their fish-eating habits. Those who ate one or more servings of fish per week were 25 percent less likely to develop diabetes. But beware of shellfish! Those who ate shellfish at least once per week had a 36 percent higher risk for the disease. Cooking methods or the high cholesterol levels of shellfish might explain the link between shellfish and diabetes.
