Healthier You

Leadership in Trying Times

Jim Sinek
Faith Regional is creating new and expanded services in our effort to provide advanced care within the region. Learn about our new vein ablation procedure, and find out how new radiation therapy in the Carson Cancer Center is improving the way we treat cancer.
I want to first welcome you to another outstanding edition of Faith Regional Health Services’ Healthier You magazine. I hope that you find the contents to be of value to you and your family in your quest for better physical and mental health.

I also want to thank you, on behalf of our 1,200 employees, for your continued patronage and support of Faith Regional Health Services! Many of our employees are your neighbors, living outside of Norfolk in communities throughout northeast Nebraska. I consider each of these employees to be leaders of our organization. Consequently, I’d like to share some of the current initiatives and strategies the leaders of Faith Regional are pursuing during this era of health care reform and these trying economic times.

In the first half of 2010, we will begin providing patient care in our new 200,000+ square-foot bed addition. These new nursing and ancillary/support service units, with their private rooms and technological advances, will enhance the state-of-the-art health care provided here at Faith Regional Health Services. You can read more on this here. This is a bold initiative in the face of significant unrest in the health care industry and the economy, but an initiative that embodies our vision of serving Christ by providing all people with exemplary medical services in an environment of love and care.

We are also implementing a robust electronic medical record (EMR) system over the course of 2010. The EMR system will facilitate and support a fundamental change in how we care for patients. Nurses, doctors, and other caregivers will be spending more time at the bedside with our patients. Medical data will be available almost instantaneously so that caregivers can make quicker, more accurate decisions and recommendations relative to your care. Patient safety initiatives and systems will also be enhanced through these automated processes. Learn more about the new system.

In addition, Faith Regional is also reaching out to our critical access hospital partners to strengthen and enhance services provided locally and close to home for patients. These partnerships range from providing collaborative cardiology services in Columbus, NE, to Faith Regional specialists monitoring patient vital signs in Atkinson, NE. Working together on behalf of our collective patients throughout the region is the only way we can significantly improve the health and well-being of the citizens of northeast Nebraska.

At Faith Regional Health Services, you will find our employees continually providing innovative leadership to better serve Christ and our patients during these trying times!
