Easy Does It:
Coping with COPD at Home
Coping with COPD at Home
When you have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), these tips
can help you ease your way through the day:
- Bathing. Get a bath stool and a hand spray, which can be attached to the tub faucet or showerhead. If you use an oxygen tube, pass the tube over the shower-curtain rod.
Dressing. Get dressed while sitting on the edge of your bed. Leave
your clothing within easy reach. Avoid tight belts and bras and shirts
with tight neck bands. Avoid socks with elastic, which can restrict
your circulation.
Eating. Eat six small meals rather than three large ones. Your lungs
can expand more easily when your stomach is not too full.
