Family members—from babies to grandmothers—can get comprehensive medical care in a family-oriented setting at Montefiore Medical Group (MMG) Fordham Family Practice (FFP).

The site has a dedicated staff of seven family practice physicians, one OB/GYN specialist, experienced nurses, a social worker and a health educator who work together as a team to provide family practice, obstetrics, gynecology and holistic medicine services, asthma and diabetes management, and HIV care, education and support.

“Our offices are located in the Fordham Plaza area—a busy location that’s convenient for many people,” says Jacqueline Richardson, administrator of MMG FFP. “We also open early so patients can schedule appointments before they go to work.”

MMG FFP offers same-day appointments for patients who are sick. The site’s bilingual staff speaks fluent English and Spanish and uses a translation service to accommodate patients who speak other languages. In addition, the site has services for patients who are hearing- or visually-impaired.

“We do some unique things to make our patients feel more comfortable,” Richardson says. “We’ve redecorated our offices to make them more attractive and comfortable for our patients. Kids are entertained in the waiting area watching DVDs, coloring and playing with fun activities. And our ‘Wall of Fame,’ which features photos of some of the children who receive care at MMG FFP, is so popular that we’re dedicating another wall in the center to display kids’ artwork.”

MMG has been operating FFP since 1992. Last year, the staff handled more than 18,000 patient visits.

MMG FFP is open six days a week during the following hours:

Monday: 7:30 am to 6:00 pm
Tuesday–Friday: 7:30 am to 5:00 pm
3 Saturdays a month: 8:30 am to 1:00 pm
