Morning Makeover Smoothie

Photo of a mother and child cooking together1/2 cup frozen chopped strawberries (If you prefer another fruit you may substitute it here. Some fruits that work well are peaches, melons or blueberries.)
1/2 cup frozen, peeled and sliced banana
1/2 cup fortified nonfat milk (If you prefer, you may use soy milk or rice milk.)
2 tablespoons low-fat granola or high-fiber cereal

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Serve immediately. Serves one.

Parents, here’s a healthy, helpful tip: If your child does not like taking vitamins, you can crush them up and add them into the smoothie. And talk with your physician about adding other nutrients, such as protein powder, to smoothies.
