About Simon Maybaum, MD

ongoing research."Simon Maybaum, MD, is the medical director for the Center for Advanced Cardiac Therapy at the Montefiore-Einstein Heart Center. This innovative center offers a novel approach to patients with advanced cardiac disease through a comprehensive disease management program and participation in promising new clinical trials for heart failure. Eligible patients may also be evaluated for cardiac transplantation and heart pump implantation. Dr. Maybaum provides handson patient care and participates in several clinical research programs to identify new and better treatments for cardiac diseases. “I focus on the potential of using cardiac devices and the latest therapies to ‘heal broken hearts,’” he explains. He graduated from the University College Hospital Medical School in London and after emigrating to Israel, continued his training at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. Dr. Maybaum completed a specialized fellowship in heart transplantation at Columbia University, where he joined the faculty and eventually served as medical director of the Cardiac Assist Device Program before joining Montefiore last year.
