Flu Facts: Spot the Signs and Beat the Bug!

Flu Symptoms
The following symptoms pack a powerful punch but usually clear up within two weeks:- A fever between 102 and 104 degrees Fahrenheit
- Muscle aches and pains
- Extreme fatigue
- Headache
- Chest discomfort
Comfort Measures
Try these comfort measures:- Consider over-the-counter medications. Nasal decongestants can help unclog a stuffy nose, and antihistamines stop sneezing. Acetaminophen can tackle a fever and minor aches.
- Eat well and drink lots of fluids.
- Get plenty of rest.
Steer Clear of the Flu
These steps can help to protect you from the flu:- Wash your hands frequently.
- Disinfect telephones, doorknobs and keyboards.
Flu Shot
An annual flu shot can greatly lower your chance of getting the flu. Health experts recommend yearly flu shots for those who:- Are age 50 and older
- Are ages 6 months to 59 months
- Are in close contact with children ages 0 to 59 months
- Live in a long-term care facility
- Have heart disease, lung disease or diabetes
- Are a health care provider

November 1 and 8, from 9 a.m. to
5 p.m., in the Medical Arts Building.
Flu shots are $20 each, or present
