Intensive Care Unit Provides Specialized Care When You Need It Most

Dan Barnes, M.D., ICU Medical Director
The Intensive Care Unit at Nevada Regional Medical Center provides highly specialized care for patients who need to be closely monitored following a major surgery or during a serious illness. The 6-bed unit offers 24-hour care for both short-term and long-term patients requiring constant observation and intensive nursing care. All ICU staff members have undergone specialized training in the care of critically ill patients and are trained to respond to life-threatening situations.

We provide a wide range of life supporting therapies including artificial ventilation, cardiovascular monitoring, treatment of cardiovascular shock and the administration of IV medications. State-of-the-art technology helps us to provide the best possible care for your loved ones. This includes life support and emergency resuscitative, diagnostic and patient monitoring equipment.

ICU nurses provide individualized care including charting, bathing, feeding, medication administration and close monitoring of the patient. The ICU staff works closely with respiratory therapy, dietary, the patient’s primary physician and other hospital departments to administer not only patient care but to provide assistance to family members.
