Breast-feeding: A Great Start

Breast-feeding has many benefits for you and your baby. It is one of the best gifts you can give your newborn. Here’s why:

  • Breast milk helps protect your baby against such health problems as ear infections, diarrhea and allergies.
  • Breast milk is free.
  • Breast-feeding allows you to bond with your baby.
  • Breast-feeding can help protect you from breast and ovarian cancer.
  • Breast-feeding burns calories and can help you lose weight.

Ask your physician or nurse about breast-feeding.

Nevada Regional Medical Center offers a breast-feeding class for women who are currently breast-feeding or who are pregnant and want more information. This group meets monthly. For dates and times, and to register, call the Community Education Department at 417-448-3622.
