Care for Chronic Wounds

L to R: Sherri Eador, CWOCN, MSN, FNP-C, Dr. William Turner and J.C. Smith
Millions of Americans suffer from chronic wounds caused by diabetes, poor circulation or other conditions, leading to pain and limited mobility. The Wound and Skin Management Center at Nevada Regional Medical Center provides comprehensive wound care and treatment, even for wounds that have resisted healing after traditional treatment.

A physician or family nurse practitioner will assess the wound and develop an individualized treatment plan. Treatment options may include:

  • Medication
  • Total contact casting, a cast that shifts weight off the wound
  • Debridement, the removal of unhealthy tissue to enhance the growth of healthy tissue
  • Specialized dressings to provide the right environment for healing
If you have a wound that has not started to heal within two to four weeks, or has not healed completely in six weeks, it may require treatment.

For more information about the Wound and Skin Management Center, or to make an appointment, please call 417-448-3603. We accept both physician referrals and self-referrals.
