Rehab Helps With Recovery

Annie Thorpe, Occupational Therapist; Donald Curry, Hand Therapy Patient
A rehabilitation program can help you to achieve personal and medical goals faster and more effectively by increasing range of motion, strength and by decreasing pain through a variety of therapeutic activities.

Physical and occupational therapy can improve mobility and functioning. A variety of treatment programs help to improve movement and mobility of specific muscles, joints and bones. Custom splints can also be fabricated to increase motion, promote healing and prevent deformity.

Rehabilitation may be necessary after an event such as a stroke, injury or surgical procedure. It can also benefit those with degenerative conditions such as multiple sclerosis.

Speech therapy can assist patients who have difficulty with cognitive functioning, swallowing or speech impairments due to a medical event or developmental delay.

Rehabilitation services are available at Nevada Regional Medical Center. To learn more, call 417-448-3790. A physician's referral is required.
